Dear Friends of Hospice,

Hospice is not a place. It's never been a place. Hospice is a team of caring people who serve patients at life's end - and their families - wherever they call home. When patients and families face challenges not easily managed in other settings, Lakeland Hospice wants to be there, too.

Lakeland Hospice Foundation is embarking on a journey to create a licensed Hospice House in Fergus Falls that will serve the entire region. The House will touch many lives in many communities - folks facing death of a loved one, those enduring terminal illness, those requiring care beyond their home or other settings.

Imagine the opportunities offered by this House.  For dying patients it means spending quality time with dear ones, celebrating, strengthening and repairing relationships, reflecting on life and living fully to the end. For families it means finding release from overwhelming tasks of giving physical care and focusing on roles as spouse, child or friend. Families will be secure in the knowledge that their loved one is receiving care in a homelike setting, when they themselves need relief from the burdens of caregiving.

The Hospice House offers hospice expertise in non technical surroundings. Here, patients receive 24-hour on-site care from staff experienced in meeting not only the patient's physical needs at end of life, but also the complex emotional, spiritual and social concerns.

We are embarking on a 1.8 million dollar capital campaign and we need your help. By joining the campaign, you will help provide compassionate care for people approaching life's end who are unable to stay at home. Your tax deductible gift will touch countless lives and will provide that for which we all hope: dignity, comfort and peace.

Warm regards,

Tammy Anderson, Fund Development Coordinator
